Freeze Drying? What's That?
Imagine you have a piece of chicken that you want to keep for a long time without it going bad. Freeze drying is a cool trick to do that. Here's how it works, step by step:
- Freeze the Chicken: First, we freeze the fresh chicken. This makes all the water inside the chicken turn into ice.
2. Vacuum Chamber: Next, you put the frozen chicken in a special box called a vacuum chamber. This chamber is like a super strong space where air is sucked out, so it's almost like being in outer space!
3. No Liquid Allowed: Because there's a vacuum and it's also really cold, the ice in the chicken can't melt into water. Instead, something super cool happens. The ice turns directly into a gas (like steam) without ever becoming liquid. This process is called sublimation.
4. Sucking Out the Ice: The vacuum chamber then helps to suck out all this ice-turned-gas from the chicken, leaving all the other parts of the chicken behind.
5. Crunchy Chicken Treat: What you get at the end is chicken that's super light and crunchy because all the water is gone. This chicken can be stored for a long time without spoiling because nothing can grow, and when you're dog is ready to eat it, it's still tasty and healthy.
Side Note: Rehydrating the treats by soaking them in water, will give you about 1kg of raw chicken.
